The theme focuses on cimate change, variability and impacts from the past to the future.The theme focuses on climate change, variability and impacts from the past to the future. Five research groups have developed strongly. While specializing in different aspects in climate science, they interact to provide an integrated view on the subject.

Many studies are interdisciplinary, often in collaboration with centres at GU, e.g. the Tellus framework for Earth Systems Science research. Nationally, DES participation in two new strategic research projects provides excellent opportunities to extend our collaboration network. Internationally, the climate program has strong, long-term collaborations in Europe, Asia and Africa.
