The Solar Energy from Existing Structures (SEES) simulates spatial variations of potential photovoltaic energy production on roof structures in urban areas. The model is available through a graphical user-friendly interface that can be downloaded for free using the links to the right.
The SEES research project was conducted in collaboration between Gothenburg University (Fredrik Lindberg, software development) and WSP Analysis & Strategy (Per Jonsson, project management) in the period September 2010-September 2011.
Financial support was gratefully received from SolEl-programmet, Göteborg Energis forskningsstiftelse, Länsstyrelsen Västra Götaland and Stadsbyggnadskontoret, Göteborgs stad. Representatives from these organisations were also part of the project team.
The interface make use of the Matlab Compiler Runtime (MCR) which has to be installed locally on your machine. Take a look at the user-manual before you install the interface.
The model use high resolution urban Digital Surface Models (DSM) and only a few meteorological parameters as inputs.
